The fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, North Carolina, on September 20, followed by only a few days the fatal shooting of Terrence Crutcher in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The shootings in Tulsa and Charlotte were the latest in a series of tragic encounters between police and African-Americans. By now it is understood that such encounters will produce cries of outrage from the local African-American community and beyond, and protests in the streets, sometimes peaceful, sometimes violent.
